The Gamecocks jumped out to an early lead behind Deondre Johnson's 77-yard touchdown reception and Caleb Nix's momentum-shifting 93-yard interception return. UTEP quarterback Skyler Locklear kept the Miners in the fight with two rushing touchdowns and a pair of scoring strikes, including a 19-yard pass to Eric Willis III that tied the game at 27 with 2:15 left to play.
