New Mexico secured a hard-fought 20-17 victory over Colorado State at University Stadium, building a 10-0 halftime lead behind D.J. McKinney's touchdown run and Luke Drzewiecki's field goal. The Rams battled back to tie the game at 10 in the third quarter, but Jack Layne's 12-yard touchdown run and another Drzewiecki field goal gave the Lobos enough cushion.
