Western Kentucky survived a late push from Missouri State to secure a hard-fought 27-22 road victory at Robert W. Plaster Stadium. The Hilltoppers rode La'Vell Wright's two third-quarter touchdown runs to build a commanding lead after trailing early in the second half. Missouri State's Yousef Obeid kept the Bears competitive with three first-half field goals, but Deuce Bailey's late touchdown pass to Tristian Gardner wasn't enough after their two-point conversion attempt failed.
