Recap
What a thriller! Purdue and Texas traded blows in the Fourth Round matchup, with 11 lead changes and 12 ties keeping fans on the edge of their seats at SAP Center. The Boilermakers built a seven-point cushion behind a 9-2 scoring run midway through the first half, but the Longhorns stayed dangerous, mounting their own 8-2 run to stay within striking distance. Purdue's defense suffocated Texas in the second half, forcing a brutal 39-play scoring drought that proved devastating. The final minute was absolute madness. Braden Smith's layup pushed Purdue to 75-72, but Matas Vokietaitis answered with consecutive free throws to cut it to one. C.J. Cox responded with his own pair of free throws, then Dailyn Swain answered right back with a layup and free throw to tie it at 77. In the ultimate heartbreaker, Trey Kaufman-Renn buried a tip-shot with no time remaining to lift Purdue to a 79-77 victory and a Sweet 16 berth.
