Ryan Beneby’s Alabama State story belongs to 2005 — not the 2026 Hornets
Ryan Beneby was a standout Alabama State offensive lineman in the 2004–2005 era, earning All-SWAC recognition and appearing on preseason and postseason all-conference lists in 2005 as a 6-foot-4, 350-pound blocker[1][2][4]. The catch: available public records also indicate he passed away on June 30, 2024, so he is not a current Alabama State player today[3][5][13]. If you’re evaluating his college profile, the big takeaway is that he was viewed as a dominant interior presence with elite size for the era — the kind of mauler who helps a run game breathe easy.
