Wyoming safety Elvin Ampofo brings ball-hawking instincts and proven tackling production
Ampofo is an early-career Wyoming safety who redshirted in 2025, so he is still developing but already drawing mention in spring drills as part of the Cowboys’ returning depth. Coming out of Eaglecrest High School, he showed real playmaking traits with 90 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles in 2024-25, which points to a defender who plays around the ball rather than just near it. If you want a safety with range, instincts, and physical involvement, he fits the profile; the main question is how quickly that high-school production translates to the Mountain West level.[1][2][4][5]
