Reliable, physical DB who gave Charlotte steady production in 2023
In the 2023 season, Isaiah Hazel was a dependable senior defensive back for Charlotte, playing all 12 games with eight starts and finishing sixth on the team with 45 tackles, including a season-high seven against No. 25 Florida[1]. He stood out more for consistency and toughness than flashy splash plays, averaging 3.75 tackles per game and recording at least two tackles in 11 games[1]. Charlotte teammates and coaches described him as a respected leader and a beloved presence in the program, which helps explain why he fit as a physical, steady, culture-setting defender rather than a pure headline-grabber[3][8].
