walk-on grinder who turned into a scholarship leader at UAB
Karl Moton’s best story is the climb: UAB listed him as a 5-foot-11 guard who was a walk-on before earning a scholarship as a senior, and Conference USA noted his 3.91 GPA and strong academic profile. His college production was modest in the later years—ESPN’s career log shows 1.0 points per game across 5 career games—but the real differentiators were steadiness, buy-in, and reliability in a team role. He’s the kind of guard programs value for toughness, maturity, and doing the little things without needing the ball.
