Dean West brings leadoff juice, speed, and steady on-base value to UCLA
In the 2026 season, UCLA outfielder Dean West was a lineup catalyst: a regular starter, the Bruins’ leadoff man, and a 7th-round MLB Draft pick by Toronto after hitting .277 with 7 home runs, 11 stolen bases, and 41 RBIs. His value goes beyond the box score—he’s known for consistent bat-to-ball skills, top-of-order energy, and glue-guy reliability, with prior seasons showing stronger on-base impact and contact rates. He looks like a fit for teams that want a smart, competitive outfielder who can set the table, pressure defenses, and play with everyday intensity.
