Butler’s old-school ballhawk with a tackling résumé
In the 2009 season, Spencer Summerville was a full-time starter for Butler, finishing with 68 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and an interception while ranking among the Pioneer Football League’s better defensive backs in tackles. His calling card was consistency and physicality: he made at least three tackles in every game, added a blocked punt, and brought first-team All-PFL recognition plus strong academic standards. He looks like the kind of safety who raises the floor of a defense with toughness, reliability, and game awareness—exactly the sort of glue player coaches trust when they want fewer mistakes and more edge.
