Zander Smith is NDSU’s high-ceiling, still-unproven QB prospect
As of the 2026 season, Zander Smith is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound redshirt freshman quarterback at North Dakota State who has not yet taken college snaps, so the intrigue is all about projection and upside rather than game production. He arrived with a strong prep résumé at Lakeland High in Florida, where he was a four-year starter, won a state title in 2023, and threw for more than 8,000 yards and 80 touchdowns.
