JJ Thompson brings lefty bullpen value — but the command question is real
In the 2025 season, Wright State’s JJ Thompson was a useful multi-inning left-handed reliever, logging 41.1 innings, a 2-0 record, one save, 39 strikeouts, and limiting opponents to a .224 average; he also delivered in the Horizon League title game with 3.2 scoreless innings. The upside is real: he’s a 6-2, 165-pound southpaw with proven swing-and-miss stuff and big-game poise, but his 2026 results were shakier, including a 7.49 ERA and more walks, so he looks like a fit for teams that value a gritty bullpen arm with projectable upside and are willing to sharpen the command.
