Melina Merritt brings veteran point-guard poise and defensive disruption to UIW
Melina Merritt is a high-IQ guard who’s built her game on distribution, toughness, and making opponents uncomfortable; in the 2017-18 season she logged 26.2 minutes per game, 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 73 assists, and 39 steals for UIW. Her calling card is clearly two-way value: she can run an offense, protect the ball, and create extra possessions with active hands, while her long UIW résumé suggests reliability and coach-trusted composure. If a team needs a steady, defense-first lead guard who does the little things and won’t blink in pressure moments, Merritt fits nicely.
