Kenny Martin
High-upside rim protector, but Arizona State impact was limited
Kenny Martin entered Arizona State as a highly regarded Arizona recruit, with pre-college evaluations praising his constant motor, activity with hands and feet, and ability to rebound and block shots. In high school, he produced dominant interior numbers, including 15.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 5.9 blocks per game in the 2011-12 season, and he was ranked among the nation’s better forwards. At Arizona State in the 2012-13 season, though, his role was small, appearing in 11 games and averaging 0.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. If you want length, defensive energy, and low-post toughness, he fit the bill; if you needed immediate offense, he was more projection than production.
