Rhode Island’s steady, glue-guy guard with local roots
Josie Chaves is a Newport-born guard who earned her Rhode Island minutes the hard way, first as a walk-on and then as a trusted reserve who brought defense, poise, and playmaking to the Rams. In her college career, she was a low-usage, hustle-driven guard with a reputation for making smart reads and competing every possession, which fits teams that value toughness, leadership, and culture over flash. She’s a strong fit if you want a high-IQ, team-first backcourt piece who knows how to stay ready and help the group without needing touches.
