Youngstown State Guard with Elite Scoring Pedigree, Now Rising as Assistant Coach
Danny Reese is not a current active player but a former Youngstown State guard (2011–13) who is now the program’s assistant coach in his ninth season. His differentiator is his legendary local scoring pedigree: he’s the second all-time leading scorer in county history, ranks top 10 in assists, steals, and free throw percentage, and played with intense, team-first grit. Though his active stats were modest (1.3 PPG as a sophomore), his intensity, basketball IQ, and deep Youngstown roots make him a perfect fit for any team valuing culture, leadership, and local talent development. You should care because he embodies the Penguins’ identity—proven, passionate, and data-driven in coaching.
