From NCCU Standout Guard to Rising WAC Assistant Coach
Monique Whaley-Briggs, a 5-10 Philadelphia native point guard, averaged 4.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 18 assists, and 13 steals in 28 games (18 starts) during her standout 2015-16 junior season at North Carolina Central. Known for her gritty intensity and leadership, she transitioned seamlessly into coaching, boosting Cochise College to a 28-6 record in her final JUCO season, then elevating Tarleton State's Texans to a D1-record 20 wins in 2024-25 (WAC leaders in rebound margin +7.2, FT% 75.0) and a postseason berth. Her Philly toughness and defensive acumen make her a coach worth watching for program turnarounds.
