Duke’s all-action safety who turned speed, toughness, and ball-hawking into a legacy
In the 2016 season, DeVon Edwards was one of Duke’s most explosive defensive playmakers: a captain, a versatile safety/corner who finished his Blue Devils career with 327 tackles, 10.5 sacks, five interceptions, six forced fumbles, and 22 pass breakups, plus six kickoff-return touchdowns. His real edge was impact per snap—violent closing speed, return-game electricity, and a fearless intensity that coaches love and offenses hate. The big caveat: his college career ended with a torn ACL/MCL in 2016, so the “fit” question is less about upside and more about a proven, high-motor competitor with star-level instincts.
