Bobie Singleton is an Illinois all-time defensive back — but not a current Illini safety
Bobie Singleton’s Illinois profile points to a former Fighting Illini defensive back, not a current 2026 roster safety, and the available team history lists him as a 2000-era letterwinner at DB/S from Chicago St. Rita. That means there’s no trustworthy current-season performance to evaluate for today’s Illini, but his fit as a player archetype was the classic physical back-end defender: experienced enough to earn a letter, versatile enough to show up at both corner/safety in historical listings, and evidently a name still worth remembering in Illinois lore.
