Maverek Russell brings power, patience, and a high-floor infield profile to UCLA
In the 2025 season, Maverek Russell arrived at UCLA as a freshman infielder after a decorated prep run at La Mirada, where he hit .362 with a .453 OBP, 120 hits, and a school-record career hit total of 120, then added a strong summer in the West Coast League (.274 with a .500 OBP for Corvallis).[1][6] He’s the kind of player coaches like: left-right bat, physical 6-foot, 195-pound frame, legitimate run production, and a track record of winning awards while handling pressure as a leadoff-type bat and corner infielder.[1][5]
