Brian Schaetz was a blue-collar force in NDSU’s title-era defensive line
Brian Schaetz was a high-effort, gap-stuffing defensive tackle for North Dakota State, and in the 2015 season he started all 15 games, finished with 33 tackles, and ranked second on the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He stood out for power, hand strength, and a relentless “Alley Cats” motor that showed up in big moments, including a late safety against Northern Iowa. He also earned academic recognition, which fits the same disciplined, no-drama profile that made him a strong fit for a championship-caliber culture.
