Scott Cassell brings veteran defensive structure and coach-level football IQ to Indiana State
Scott Cassell’s value is less about splashy box-score stats and more about steadiness, communication, and understanding the defense as a coach-on-the-field type of linebacker for Indiana State. In 2026, the Sycamores’ defense has already faced heavy volume and Cassell fits the kind of player who helps keep a unit organized when the game gets chaotic. His biggest differentiators are reliability, discipline, and leadership traits that translate well to special teams, depth, or a system that asks linebackers to think fast and tackle cleanly. If you want a high-floor linebacker who can stabilize a room, he’s worth a close look.
