rugged UConn linebacker with veteran instincts and captain energy
In the 2016 season, Matthew Walsh emerged as a sturdy, high-motor linebacker for UConn, starting all 12 games, serving as one of four team captains, and finishing fourth on the team with 72 tackles while adding two tackles for loss.[1] What makes him more than a stat line is the résumé: he switched from fullback to linebacker, uses his knowledge of both sides of the ball to diagnose plays quickly, and brings an experienced, physical presence that fits a defense needing reliability and toughness.[1][2]
