Johnny Escobalez Jr. brings two-way upside and hustle to MVSU
In the 2026 season, Mississippi Valley State’s Johnny Escobalez Jr. showed sneaky value as a pitcher/outfielder who can impact the game in multiple ways, with 13 runs scored, 4 RBI, and 5 strikeouts in 4.2 innings across five pitching appearances[2][9]. He also flashed speed and disruptive baserunning in conference play, including multi-steal games and extra pressure on defenses[4][5]. The fit is intriguing: a versatile, high-energy roster piece with athletic juice and a “do-a-little-bit-of-everything” profile, though the small sample on the mound means development remains the name of the game[1][9].
