Nebraska’s physical, versatile secondary tone-setter
In the 2025 season, Donovan Jones became a true stabilizer for Nebraska’s defense, playing in all 13 games with 11 starts and posting 59 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and five pass breakups while helping the Huskers rank third nationally in pass defense.[1][9][14] What makes him special is the combo platter: he’s a sturdy 6-foot-1, 200-pound DB who can cover, come downhill against the run, and slide into nickel/safety roles when Nebraska wants more flexibility.[2][11][14][15] He also brings leadership and off-field credibility, earning a 2026 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List nod and community-service praise.[9]
