Gritty Youngstown State guard who gives the Penguins a defensive edge and veteran toughness
Cathcart was a steady rotational guard for Youngstown State, known more for toughness, energy, and disruptive defense than eye-popping scoring. In the 2019-20 season, he was still trusted in key moments, including a late-February postgame appearance after a tight 61-59 loss to Northern Kentucky, which fits his profile as a battle-tested, team-first contributor. He’s the kind of player who can raise a team’s intensity, defend hard, and handle pressure, making him a strong fit for programs valuing competitiveness, accountability, and backcourt depth.
