Big Forward Pop, But His UAB Run Came With Availability Questions
In the 2007-08 season, Walter Sharpe was a high-impact UAB frontcourt piece, averaging 14.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in 12 games while shooting 52.3% from the floor; he also showed rare all-around flashes with a 26-point, 17-rebound performance. His calling card was size, interior scoring, and rebound production, but the big differentiator was volatility: he sat out the 2006-07 season because of transfer rules and was later declared academically ineligible, so fit depended on whether a team could live with the baggage and bet on the talent.
