a sturdy, experienced Cal Poly linebacker with edge
Phil Johnston is listed by ESPN as a Cal Poly linebacker, but the available search results do not provide current 2026 game stats or recent coaching notes, so there is limited evidence for a true form read. In general, a player in this role is most valuable if he brings downhill physicality, dependable tackling, and assignment discipline; for a roster fit, he would profile as a depth-or-special-teams addition rather than a proven impact defender until current-season production is confirmed.[4][9]
