steady UT Martin guard with two-way value and efficient role-play
Jalen Variste profiles as a dependable, low-usage guard who brings balance rather than flash: in the 2015-16 season, he averaged 2.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.8 steals in 13.2 minutes while shooting 39.7% from the field[1]. His value is in the little things—ball security, defensive activity, and the ability to fit into a team structure without needing the offense built around him[1][3]. If you want a guard who plays with discipline, competes on the perimeter, and can fill a role without demanding touches, he fits that mold.
