Alex Hawthorne brings old-school linebacker instincts to Montana
A former Montana linebacker, Hawthorne has the kind of throwback presence teams like: physical, active, and reliable in space, with a résumé that includes a defensive score on an interception return for the Grizzlies in 2005. His listed college frame was 6'1", 210 as a redshirt freshman and 6'2", 225 the next season, suggesting a body that could carry more downhill power over time. He fits best with a defense that values instinct, toughness, and playmaking over flash.
