Holden Murcer brings left-handed catching upside to Gardner-Webb
Murcer is a **freshman catcher** at Gardner-Webb whose profile stands out for **MLB-caliber tools**, a **left-handed bat**, and a reportedly **strong/durable build** that suggests room to add impact as he develops.[1][3][7] He also brings a competitive edge and a notable defensive marker, with recruiting materials listing a **1.85 pop time**, which is a strong fit for a team valuing athletic catchers with upside behind the plate.[5]
