Nick Mascaro brings on-base grit and captain’s polish to CSUB’s outfield
In the 2026 season, Nick Mascaro has been a steady table-setter for Cal State Bakersfield, starting 39 of 51 games and leading the team with 32 walks while also ranking fourth in putouts, a nice sign of range and reliability in center field. In 2025, he broke out with a .298 average, 62 hits, 13 doubles and 7 homers, and Big West honorable mention honors backed up the eye test. He looks like a high-contact, disciplined bat with leadership value and some sneaky pop—basically the kind of player coaches trust when the game gets a little spicy.
