a 6-foot-11 interior presence with stretch potential and pro experience
Carcoana’s best selling point is size: at 6-foot-11, he gives South Dakota a true frontcourt body with enough touch to punish smaller lineups, highlighted by a 19-point outing in the 2022 season against Mount Marty after hitting 8-of-10 shots and 3-of-3 from deep. He’s more intriguing as a rim-and-spacing fit than a stat-stuffing star, but his college-to-pro path adds context: his later pro numbers in Romania were modest, so the appeal is his frame, versatility, and developmental upside rather than proven high-volume production.
