6-foot-6 Samford guard with real positional versatility
In the 2026 season, James Boone is a freshman guard for Samford listed at 6-foot-6 and 185 pounds, with the rare ability to handle the ball, score, and create from multiple spots on the floor.[1][5] Samford’s staff described him as a “legit 6-foot-6” versatile guard/forward who can play anywhere from point guard to power forward, which makes him a matchup problem and a flexible roster fit.[1][5] His value is more about upside, size, and multi-position potential than gaudy stats right now, so he looks like the kind of player who can grow into a real Swiss-army-knife piece if his shot-making and decision-making keep developing.[1][9]
