Big-bodied righty who flashed rotation upside before injury shut him down
In the 2025 season, Caleb Duerr emerged as a reliable starter for South Dakota State, leading the Jackrabbits in wins (4), innings pitched (58.0), and starts (12) while ranking third on the team with 47 strikeouts; he also earned Summit League Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing 6.2 scoreless innings against St. Thomas.[2][3][8][13] The 6-foot-4 right-hander has the frame, strike-throwing potential, and durability profile coaches love, but his 2026 season was wiped out by injury, so the big question is whether the stuff and stamina rebound cleanly—if they do, he looks like a rotation-fit arm with real college value.[2][9]
