FIU’s strike-throwing righty Jarek Woodward brings starter depth and mound composure
In the 2025 season, Jarek Woodward gave FIU a dependable swingman look: a 5.50 ERA, 7.9 K/9, and 1.5 BB/9 over 55.2 innings, with a fastball in the low-to-mid 90s and a deep mix that includes a slider, curveball, and changeup. FIU coach Rich Witten has called him an “elite strike-thrower,” which is the kind of trait that plays anywhere, especially for a team needing innings and poise. He looks like a fit if you want command, pitchability, and rotation flexibility more than raw, blow-it-by-you heat.
