deceptive lefty with strikeout bite for Liberty
Matt Porter is a graduate-student LHP for Liberty in the 2026 season, bringing a funky, left-on-left problem look and a track record of missing bats: over his two years at Lakeland CC, he logged 86.0 innings with 123 strikeouts, and recent coverage noted he opened the 2026 season with 3 scoreless innings and 4 Ks for the Flames. He also showed some volatility in transfer history and command, so the fit is best for a staff that values matchup chaos, strikeout upside, and a reliever/spot-starter role over pure polish.
