Caleb Matthews brings shot-making pedigree and high-IQ guard play to NJIT
Matthews is a 6-foot-4 guard with a proven scoring-and-creation résumé from high school, where in the 2017-18 season he averaged 21.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while knocking down more than 40% from three and earning Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year honors. His differentiators are legit floor spacing, court vision, and passer instincts—plus the kind of academic/character profile NJIT clearly valued in his recruitment. If you want a guard who can stretch defenses and make teammates better, he fits the bill; if you need a pure rim-pressure engine, that’s less clearly his calling card.
