Irish Guard Paris McCarthy Brings International Pedigree to ETSU
Paris McCarthy is an Irish guard from Castle Island, Kerry, who joined East Tennessee State as a freshman in the 2022-23 season. The 19-year-old arrived with impressive credentials—a Lidl National League title and TG4 All-Ireland senior final appearance in her native Ireland. While her freshman stats were modest (2.4 PPG in eight games), McCarthy demonstrated efficient shooting (60% FG, 71% from three on limited attempts). Her differentiator is her international basketball experience combined with elite-level GAA competition, bringing a unique global perspective and high basketball IQ to the program. She's a developmental prospect with strong fundamentals and the competitive fire of an elite Irish athlete.
