Sophia Mount brings freshman-arm upside and durability to Villanova’s circle
In the 2026 season, Sophia Mount has taken on a heavy early workload for Villanova, including multiple starts against strong competition, and her profile points to a pitcher with poise, competitive edge, and room to grow. Her high-school résumé featured a state championship run and elite run prevention, including a 0.41 ERA as a junior, which hints at command and strike-throwing ability. She looks like a development-friendly arm for a staff that needs innings now, and a good fit if you value toughness, upside, and a pitcher who has already won at a high level.
