Wyatt Cook brings downhill size and proven tackling production to Maryland's linebacker room
A 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker from Baltimore-area roots, Wyatt Cook arrived at Maryland with a reputation for physical run support and production, earning Baltimore Sun Defensive Player of the Year honors after a senior season with 91 tackles, 6 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. His fit is appealing because he combines frame, contact toughness, and edge-leaning versatility, and Maryland has already seen him contribute on game day with a four-tackle outing against Indiana. For a team looking for a competitive, high-motor defender who can finish plays and bring local credibility, he checks a lot of boxes.
