UMBC’s Steady Guard with Championship DNA and Elite Intensity
Scoop Smith, the #11 Guard for the UMBC Retrievers, is a differentiator not just for his 4.9 PPG and 42.7% FG in the 2025–26 season, but for his relentless intensity and championship pedigree—he was part of the team that won the 2025 America East regular season and tournament titles (24–9 overall). While his stats (2.7 REB, 0.5 AST) suggest a role player, Smith’s on-court presence is defined by defensive grit, perfect 3-of-3 shooting bursts (like his 7-point game vs. Central Connecticut), and a Pemberton, NJ-born personality that elevates team morale. He has no known injury history, plays with high intensity every minute, and fits any team needing a reliable, battle-tested guard who thrives in winning environments. Care about him because he’s the quiet engine behind UMBC’s success, and he’s a perfect fit for teams valuing resilience, consistency, and championship experience over flashy stats.
