Tae Johnson is Notre Dame’s rising ball-hawking safety
In the 2025 season, Tae Johnson emerged as a difference-maker for Notre Dame with 48 tackles, 4 interceptions, 3 pass breakups, and a pick-six, showing the instincts and range that make him more than a box-score safety.[5][6][8][12][15] At 6-foot-2 and 192 pounds, he brings length, speed, and closing burst, and multiple reports describe him as a playmaker whose value comes from turnovers, timing, and impact moments rather than just steady tackling volume.[6][16][18] A wrist injury cost him the final two regular-season games in 2025, but he was still recognized for freshman All-America-level production.[12][18]
