tough, trusted SIU short-yardage hammer with a nose for the end zone
Jonathan Mixon has been a dependable Southern Illinois power back, finishing his SIU career with 19 rushing touchdowns, tied for 14th all-time at the school, and producing 325 rushing yards and 4 TDs in his final documented season while battling missed games from injury. His game was built on physicality, red-zone value, and reliability in short-yardage situations rather than big-play flash, which made him a coach’s trust guy. If a team wants a downhill runner who can finish drives and accept contact, Mixon fit the bill.
