Ava Wilmes brings left-handed pop, lineup depth, and freshman upside to Iowa State
In the 2026 season, Ava Wilmes gave Iowa State a useful early glimpse of her value: she played in 10 games, hit .375 with 3 hits, 3 RBI, 3 walks, and a .500 on-base percentage, while also making her debut with a hit and RBI against Butler. She was recruited as a left-handed power hitter who can hit for average and produce runs, which is exactly the kind of bat that adds balance and depth to a lineup. For a team shopping for contact, patience, and a little juice, she looks like a smart fit.
