Andrew Alves brings special-teams reliability and local toughness to SDSU’s linebacker room
Andrew Alves is a San Diego native and former St. Augustine standout who has been valued at San Diego State for his effort, special-teams reliability, and disciplined, team-first profile rather than splashy box-score production. In 2021, he played in all eight games on special teams, recorded three tackles and a fumble recovery, and was recognized as a two-time Mountain West Fall All-Academic honoree, which points to a dependable, coachable, low-mistake player. He also drew Power Service interest coming out of high school, so he fits best as a gritty depth piece and culture add for a program that wants toughness and attention to detail.
