Akron LB with a role to win in a defense that needs edge and consistency
Matt Heslop is worth watching because Akron is building a defense that needs linebackers who can diagnose quickly, play with urgency, and hold up against both the run and the pass. Publicly available roster and team context for the 2026 Akron Zips do not provide a detailed stat line for Heslop, so the best read is role-based: he’s the kind of LB whose value comes from toughness, assignment discipline, and reliability more than flash. If your team wants a steady, physical defender with room to grow, he fits the profile.
