a versatile Highlander bat with real clutch juice
Backstrom is a redshirt sophomore outfielder for UC Riverside who already showed upside in the 2025 season, hitting .406 with 50 hits, 27 runs, five home runs and 21 RBIs across 33 games. In the 2026 season, his role was more limited, but he still flashed impact in key spots, including a pinch-hit home run and multi-RBI burst against CBU on April 14, 2026. He looks like a useful fit if you want a hitter with some pop, situational value, and a reputation for coming through in pressure moments.
