Memphis Tigers' Spencer Smith: AAC Punting Leader with Elite 45.1 YPA in 2017
Spencer Smith dominated as the American Athletic Conference punting average leader in 2017 with a stellar 45.1 yards per punt on 45 kicks—ranking 7th nationally among FBS punters despite low volume (3.4 attempts/game)—showcasing pinpoint accuracy and hang time that flipped field position for Memphis. His consistency under pressure and conference-best mark differentiator make him a game-changer for special teams, though post-2017 data is sparse, suggesting potential pro upside or coaching path; ideal fit for teams needing a reliable, high-impact punter with proven Power 5-level potential.
