athletic, versatile DB with proven ball skills and a path to compete
Ron Hobby’s profile fits the classic “why he matters” DB checklist: athletic, explosive, and comfortable in multiple roles, with Liberty staff noting he was challenging for a starting corner job and had already shown playmaking juice. In the 2011 season, Liberty credited him with 11 tackles and 3 pass breakups, a solid sign of coverage instincts and competitiveness. He also brings an intriguing recruiting backstory from Pitt and high-school two-way production, which suggests toughness and versatility. If a roster needs a scrappy, adaptable defensive back with upside, Hobby is worth a close look.
